Impacto es de S/ 22,700 millones al año en el país, según la SNMPE
La minería ilegal genera pérdidas al Perú por más de 22,700 millones de soles al año, 2.5% del producto bruto interno (PBI), mueve más recursos económicos que el narcotráfico y pone en peligro la seguridad nacional, la biodiversidad, el medioambiente, los derechos humanos y la salud de los peruanos.
Este es uno de los resultados del estudio Abordaje integral de la minería ilegal e informal en el Perú, realizado por la consultora V&C Analistas, por encargo de la Sociedad Nacional de Minería, Petróleo y Energía (SNMPE).
El gerente general de V&C Analistas, Dante Vera Miller, señaló que la minería ilegal e informal se expandió peligrosamente por todas las regiones del Perú destruyendo los ecosistemas y generando graves problemas sociales, ambientales y económicos.
Alertó que la producción minera informal, creció a una tasa anual de 11.7% durante los últimos 10 años.

Las actividades de la minería ilegal e informal se realizan sin gestión ambiental ni fiscalización alguna, en condiciones inseguras, con regímenes laborales semiesclavistas.
